God is doing amazing things through local church involvement in adoption, foster care, and global orphan care. Yet even as more and more churches are becoming involved, many of them are in need of effective resources, helpful insight, and practical wisdom and experience to help them develop and move forward.  Join this interactive learning and planning experience designed to help church adoption and orphan care ministries develop and advance their existing ministry efforts.

How does this Church Ministry Workshop work?

This Church Ministry Workshop is designed with established church adoption, foster care and orphan care ministries in mind, and is divided into three different tracks (listed below). In order to maintain effective workshop group sizes, participation in each track will be limited to only 15 churches (limit two people per church per track). Churches are highly encouraged to send teams in order to attend multiple tracks.

Each track will span the course of the entire day and is designed for participants to attend that track for the entire day, as the material in each track will build throughout the course of the day. Each track will culminate in a facilitated planning time at the end of the day. This means that your ministry team will have the benefit of “going deep” in each of these three focused areas. As important, your ministry team will walk away at the end of the workshop with both tools and a plan for your ministry.

The three tracks, each led by an experienced ministry team, include:

Developing an Adoption & Foster Care Ministry that Prepares and Equips Families for the Journey

led by Michael & Amy Monroe, Tapestry Adoption & Foster Care Ministry

Designing Effective Support Systems in Your Church Adoption & Foster Care Ministry

led by Bruce & Denise Kendrick, Embrace Texas

Creating and Implementing an Effective Global Orphan Care Strategy in Your Church

led by Mike Douris & Tiffany Taylor Wines, Orphan Outreach

Together for Adoption Theological Boot Camp

Hosted by Together for Adoption

Date: Wednesday, May 2, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Price: $20 with your Summit registration (includes lunch and materials)

Location:  Saddleback Church

Together for Adoption is partnering with Christian Alliance for Orphans to provide an intensive full-day event designed for Christians and ministry leaders who desire to journey further into the transformative theology of adoption (i.e. God’s work of adoption within redemptive-history) for the sake of the orphan. Scripture’s grand story of Adoption announces the good news that God in Christ has stepped into our messed up stories of estrangement and waywardness to graciously rewrite and transform them into his Story.

The purpose of our boot camp is to provide gospel-centered teaching that magnifies the adopting grace of God the Father in Christ Jesus and mobilizes the church for global orphan care. This boot camp will equip you with an enriching theology of Adoption and explore its implications for visiting orphans in their affliction.

Sessions Include:

A Theology of Adoption for the Christian & the Orphan

led by Dan Cruver

Adoption Before Time

led by Jason Cornwell

Adoption in the Present Time

led by Dan Cruver

Adoption at the “End” of Time

led by Jason Cornwell
